Childrens Burial Gd.

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Gd. is a children's burial ground within County Galway, Ireland. The wedge-shaped platform holds set stones marking east-west graves, while trees grow through the forgotten rows. Local people still call it a Lisheen, keeping the name alive even when the shape fades beneath roots and soil.
Within a subrectangular enclosure (GA107-144----). Known locally as a 'Lisheen', this very poorly preserved children's burial ground consists of a wedge-shaped platform (L c. 15m; Wth c. 10m) on which numerous set stones indicate graves aligned E-W. A number of trees are growing on the platform. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 15 April 2019
