Standing stone in Ceann Trá overlooks Ventry Harbour from the SW slopes of Caherard Hill, a 2.55m slab set upright despite the surrounding scatter of loose rock. Its deliberate placement suggests human hands shaped the slope long before written memory, perhaps marking a boundary, a burial or a warning to sailors. The stone still points NNE-SSW across the water, patient and unchanged while the harbour and hill around it have shifted through centuries of storms and forgetting.

Situated on the SW slopes of Caherard Hill, overlooking Ventry Harbour, this large upright slab stands .9m high and is 2.55m long and .25m thick; NNE-SSW. Though the surrounding hill slope is strewn with rock outcrop and loose boulders, this one appears to have been deliberately set standing. The above description is derived from J.
