Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Castlesampson,skeanamuck, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a rise in an undulating landscape with a circular platform measuring 30m NNW-SSE and 28m WNW-ESE. A scarp reaches 1.4m at ESE and 2.55m at WNW, while an outer fosse at WNW has a top width of 6.6m, base width of 1.4m and depth of 0.8m. An outer field wall runs S-W-NE, and a N-S field wall plus townland boundary bisect the site.
On a rise in an undulating landscape. Circular platform (diam. 30m NNW-SSE; 28m WNW-ESE) defined by a scarp (H 1.4m at ESE to 2.55m at WNW), with an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of top 6.6m; Wth of base 1.4m; D 0.8m) and an outer field wall S-W-NE. It is bisected by a N-S field wall and townland boundary, and is reclaimed E of this in Castlesampson but overgrown to the W. There is no identifiable original entrance, but some remnants of stone walls in the W part may be remains of an overlying field system. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
