What is recorded here
Knocktopherabbey holds an unclassified castle in County Kilkenny, but no visible feature or clear history has survived to identify it. The name itself resists explanation, and the absence of a description makes the place harder to forget. Whatever stood there has withdrawn into silence, leaving behind a gap sharp enough to cut through certainty.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
