What is recorded here
Indicated is a lost circular enclosure on a gentle east-facing slope in County Mayo, Ireland. The 1838 map still draws its line, but the land has forgotten the shape. A ringfort may have stood there, holding people and fire before the grass erased the edge.
In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope. Shown on OS map (1838) as circular enclosure. Levelled; no visible surface traces. Possibly a ringfort.
The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 334.
