What is recorded here
Carrowkeel North in County Mayo carries a map question rather than a visible ruin, leaving the enclosure hidden beneath ordinary ground. That absence is not emptiness; it is a invitation to watch the land for a ridge, broken stone or changed soil memory. The place reserves judgment, waiting for someone patient enough to ask it without forcing an answer.
An Office of Public Works copy of the 1838 OS 6-inch map bears the following hand written annotation for Carrowkeel North townland: 'Fort in this Td.?' but a precise location is not indicated. As yet no evidence for a possible enclosure or ringfort has been found in the townland.
