Clear water closed the entrance and stopped the hunt. They wanted to kill the boy, but the living water would not permit it. She drank, transformed into a white hare and ran into the hill. The boys followed the hare into the earth and never returned. Her mother searched for seven years, then walked into the sea. The cave keeps the children, the mother and the boy inside its water still.

In a rath (MA062-081001-). A Man-made underground passage is indicated on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as a small circular feature, marked ‘Cave’, in the centre of the rath. It is indicated as ‘Cave (Site of)’ on the 1919 edition. Ground level in the centre of the rath interior appears higher than elsewhere in the interior, but there is no visible trace of a Man-made underground passage.
