What is recorded here

Indicated is a much-reduced oval fort on a gentle south-facing slope in County Longford, still marked as a fort on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map. Its low earth-and-stone bank and shallow ditch survive mainly from the northwest through the north to the southeast, while a modern laneway has cut across the rest. The entrance has disappeared, but the shape remains large enough to suggest a place where people once drew a line between inside and outside.

On a gentle S-facing slope in pasture. Depicted as a roughly oval-shaped enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised oval area (73.7m N-S; 61.9m E-W) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.7m; H 0.75m max.) with a shallow external fosse (Wth 5.2m; D 0.3m), which is identifiable only from NW-N-SSE.
