What is recorded here

Mortals built the tower south of the house, perhaps to watch storms leave the valley or to keep a loved one company during long evenings. Wood still surrounds the stones, and distance has not erased the shape of that intention. A belvedere is a room without walls, inviting anyone clim
This tower is referred to in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 3 Mid-Cork' (1997, 414) under the entry (no. 9646) for a country house (CO072-018----). It is mentioned in the entry as follows: 'In wood, to S of house, square tower of roughly same date as house.' This is a post-1700 AD monument and as such does not come under the remit of the Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
