What is recorded here

Indicated is a vanished ringfort on a Leitrim drumlin, mapped in 1835 but lost beneath rough pasture and scrub. It may have housed people, hidden horses or waited for rain to reveal its banks. The land keeps its shape even when the field swallows the memory.

Indicated as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) on the 1835 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, it is situated in an area of scrub and rock outcrop towards the bottom of the NW-facing slope of a drumlin. It is not visible at ground level in rough pasture. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
