What is recorded here
Entrance gateway, erected c.1889, with cast-iron quadrant screen railings and cast-iron gate piers with lancet panels, quatrefoil panels and decorative finials. Pair of ashlar limestone piers on square plan and sections of coursed rubble limestone walls to east and west. Located to the north of Our Lady's Bower (15010106)
An elegant gateway incorporating good quality late-Victorian mass-produced cast-iron work. The gates themselves have been removed and the entrance probably widened to accommodate bus traffic. Ironwork manufactured by M/S Kennan, Dublin. The gates, together with the limestone piers and boundary wall are an attractive component of streetscape along Lower Road and form an interesting group with Our Lady's Bower to the south.
