William Dargan

William Dargan is a memorial in County Carlow, but no further detail survives to show whether he was a soldier, a farmer, a thief or a saint. The name stands alone like a stone dropped into dark water, sending out rings that touch no visible shore. Perhaps he lived boldly, died young and was forgotten so completely that even his deeds dissolved. Or perhaps he is still alive somewhere, waiting for someone to remember him into existence.
