What is recorded here

Indicated is a low circular hillock in County Kildare pasture, perhaps forty metres across and no higher than a person, yet it still casts a shadow on the land. Taylor mapped it as a Rath in 1783 and the Ordnance Survey showed an enclosed copse around it in 1838, suggesting trees once hid or marked the ring. The earth may have swallowed the boundary stone or wall, leaving only a gentle swell where human hands or fairy craft first shaped the field.

Shown as a circular 'Rath' on Taylor's 1783 Map of County Kildare and on the 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular, enclosed copse (est. diam. c. 60m). On level pasture.
