What is recorded here

Cappananee is a hidden fort in County Kerry. The first map showed a circular field, but later maps changed its shape. That change suggests people forgot the true boundary or the land itself resisted measurement. A fort should keep its form, yet this one blurred into ordinary ground. What disappeared may have been a house, a boundary or a promise. The region still carries the shape of what it stopped remembering.

A circular field is shown at this point on the 1st edition of the OS map. The field is irregularly-shaped on the 2nd edition and retains that shape today, but it is possible that there was formerly a ringfort on the site. The above description is derived from J.
