Walter Lister died in January 1622, and his wide stone still lies in the southeast angle of Cam church, bearing incised Roman capitals that trace a life crossed from Yorkshire to Roscommon. The damaged words hide a household or a title, yet they preserve a young man caught between two counties and one sudden winter. He may have arrived with hope or obligation, but the chamber kept him, turning a foreign name into a local shadow beneath the roof.

The graveslab of Walter Lister of Milltown but originally from Yorkshire, which is dated 1622, is inside the SE angle of the parish church of Cam (RO048-099001-). The stone (dims 2.26m; x 0.98m) has an inscription in incised roman capitals along the edges. The inscription has been read (Denny 1907; 1911-12) as: WALTER LISTER OF MILTON GENT BORNE AT WESTBY IN THE / COVNTI OF YOUK OF A ……/….E HOVS AND DIED THE 28 OF JANVARIE 1622.
