Cahermore, CL010-073----, stands beside a cliff where three small cairns once marked the rock. Westropp, 1913, said the middle one had been broken open for a cattle shelter, its stones carried to a wall on the precipice. Two still appear beyond the bastion; the third has vanished into the rough grazing above the valley.

Listed as ‘Cairn’ in the SMR (1992) but unlocated and not listed in the RMP (1996). In high (between the 60’ and 700’ contours) open, rough grazing overlooking a fertile valley of improved pasture to E. According to Westropp (1913, 247), ‘Three small cairns stand on the cliff bastion, which towers behind the fort [Cahermore, CL010-073----] and rock platform. They are much defaced, 12 feet [c. 3.65m] to 16 feet [c. 4.88m] across, and rarely 4 feet [c. 1.22m] high. The middle one has a looped cattle shelter (for which it was dilapidated); much of the material was used to build the loose stone wall on the dangerous edge of the precipice.’ During an inspection in 1999, two cairns were located on higher ground beyond the ‘cliff bastion’ just W of Cahermore; CL010-064036-, c. 300m to the W and CL010-064037-, c. 270m to the WNW. These may be two of the three cairns Westropp recorded; the third was not located. Nine further cairns lie at a distance of more than 600m to the SW of Cahermore: CL010-064027- to CL010-064033-, CL010-064088- and CL010-064108-.
