What is recorded here

Eight cairns are scattered across the bog below Miskish Mountain, but this one wears a thick coat of gorse and heather. It sits half-hidden in the grass, waiting for rain or footsteps to reveal its shape. The others stand bare and obvious, while this one keeps its edges secret.

In rough upland grazing, on blanket bog, on a S-facing slope on the S foothills of Miskish Mountain. One of a cluster of eight cairns (CO114-081001-; CO114-081002-; CO114-081003-; CO114-081004-; CO114-081006-; CO114-081007-; CO114-081008-). This sod-covered circular cairn (diam. 3.2m; H 0.45m) is set in blanket bog. The cairn is covered with gorse and heather. Another one of the cairns (CO114-081004-) is c. 29m to the SW and another (CO114-081006-) is c. 11m to the NNE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
