What is recorded here

Eight stone rings are scattered across the bog beneath Miskish Mountain, separated by barely twenty metres. They are not a chamber, a court or a aligning sightline. They are a cluster, perhaps a boundary, perhaps a game played with stones before writing existed. The gap between rings is wide enough to walk through, narrow enough to remember.

In rough upland grazing, on blanket bog, on a S-facing slope on the S foothills of Miskish Mountain. One of a cluster of eight cairns (CO114-081001-; CO114-081002-; CO114-081003-; CO114-081005-; CO114-081006-; CO114-081007-; CO114-081008-). This circular cairn (diam. 2.2m; H 0.5m) is covered with gorse and heather and is set in bog. One of the other cairns (CO114-081003-) is c. 13m to the SE and another (CO114-081005-) is c. 29m to the NE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
