Listongower is a subcircular fairy fort in County Galway, its earthen bank still standing beside a marshy stream. The south gap remains wide enough for a cart or a dancing shadow to pass unbroken. Modern roads and field walls have cut through the ancient ring, yet the interior hollows wait patient for hands that remember how to use them.

In level marshy grassland, c. 30m SW of a stream. Subcircular rath (43.5m NNW-SSE; 32.5m ENE-WSW), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse. There is a wide gap (Wth 7.2m) at S. The bank is cut by a boreen at NW and N, and by a field wall at S and SW. Two shallow hollows within the interior appear to be modern. Listongower, Cahernagarry is a subcircular early-medieval ringfort, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD, situated in marshy grassland near a stream. Local folklore often associates such sites with fairy activity, and though no specific legends are recorded for this rath, it may have been regarded as a place of supernatural significance in traditional belief.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
