St. Patricks Well is a disused ritual site in County Carlow. It is no longer open for visitation, but it remains a holy well in kind. The closure suggests the water stopped flowing, the path vanished, or the community forgot how to ask permission. In rural Ireland, forgetting is not the same as losing. The well may still be there under brambles, waiting for someone to remember the shape of the request.

St. Patrick’s Well in Burgage is traditionally associated with the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, and is linked to local customs of healing and pilgrimage. Holy wells dedicated to St. Patrick are often connected with cures for physical and spiritual ailments, and it is likely that this site was visited for such purposes, particularly on Saint’s Day.
