House

Situated on sloping commonage on lower south-east- ern flanks of Knockmore close to the former upper limit of cultivation. A large area of faint tillage ridges lies immediately to NE, cut by a stream. The house consists of a rectangular structure, U-shaped in plan (NW–SE 5.5m, NE–SW 3.5m), open on the south-eastern or downslope side. It is defined on the other three sides by low grassy banks (Wth 1.1m max. × Wth 0.5m max. × H 0.3m internally), faintest along the north-western (upslope) side. The north-western part of the interior is sub- divided into two small, equal-sized chamber-like divisions by a short narrow bank (Wth 0.7m × H 0.3m) running SE into the interior from the north- western wall for 1.9m. Apart from one large natural boulder protruding from the bank along the south- western side, few stones are visible. Possibly a shelter associated with the tillage ridges.
