Graveslab in Bunatober embeds two dead names inside the living wall of a holy well, proving that water and death shared one address. James Kirwan died in 1693, Monica followed later, and the stone still asks passersby to pray for both. The well gives life, the slab gives memory, and Bunatober keeps both without choosing between them.

Built into the wall enclosing a holy well (GA056-034002-), this graveslab bears the following inscription: 1706 IHS MARIA PRAY FOR THE SOUL OF JAMES KIRWAN WHO DYED 27 SEP ANNO DNI 1693 PRAY FOR THE SOUL OF MONICA KIRWAN WIFE TO ? JAMES Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 10 February 2023
