What is recorded here
Detached walled garden, built c.1800. Rectangular-plan with ground sloping gently northwards. Main entrance centrally located to east elevation. Rubble limestone walls, having red and yellow brick lining to interior elevations of northern and eastern walls. Breakfront entrance to west elevation, having rebated elliptical-headed opening with red brick voussoirs. Recently inserted entrance to north-east corner.
A reasonably intact example of a demesne walled garden forming part of an interesting group of structures with the outbuildings and lodge, adding overall character to the area. Of particular note is the red brick interior lining, which would have absorbed heat during the day and helped to maintain temperatures in the enclosed garden at night.
