What is recorded here

Killeglan is a small bawn at the east end of a low ridge, about eighty metres west of the river where the water turns west. A castle stands just outside the south end of its west wall, while grass fills the rectangular space bounded by stone on two sides and steep earth on the other. The shape suggests a working yard or defensive enclosure rather than a grand display, with the river providing a natural boundary and the ridge a slight advantage over the surrounding low land.

Situated at the E end of a low WNW-ESE ridge in a low-lying landscape c. 80m W of the NE-SW Killeglan River above the point where the stream turns W. The castle (RO050-008001-) is just outside the S end of the W wall of a bawn, which is a grass-covered area (dims c. 30m WNW-ESE; 24m NNE-SSW) defined by sections of masonry wall at the N (L 6m; H 0.3m) and W sides while the E and S sides formed by steep natural scarps.
