What is recorded here

Situated on the SE side of a slight rise, in relatively low-lying pasture, surrounded by gently undulating terrain. This area appears to have been liable to floods prior to drainage in the 1970s. Ringfort (WM018-075----) lies c. 10m to NW. Not depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map or the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. Monument described in 1975 as a penannular-shaped area (approx. dims. 18m NE-SW; 17m NW-SE) defined by an inner fosse, an outer bank and open to SE. The inner fosse is wide, shallow and U-shaped and evident from SW-W-N-NE. The outer earthen bank is low, broad and grass-covered and also visible from SW-W-N-NE. There is no trace of an entrance. There are several drainage depressions and banks of possible drainage material in the vicinity. Monument is visible as a penannular-shaped earthwork which is undefined to SE, on Digital Globe aerial photography.
