In improved, rough, wet pasture, cut by land drains and watercourses, 65m SW of a townland boundary with Knockainy East. Ring-barrow (LI032-310----) lies 2m to SE. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument identified on an aerial photograph (ASIAP 348, 7) taken 05/01/2003 where it is visible as a small circular-shaped earthwork. Upstanding monument is visible as a circular-shaped cropmark (diam. 11m) on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012 and on Google Earth orthoimage 05/04/2006. A ring-barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age, associated with burial practices in the Irish landscape. Its presence indicates prehistoric funerary activity in the Knockainy area.
