Grave Yd stands on the south shore of the Ilen river estuary in County Cork, a walled rectangular enclosure where early nineteenth-century headstones still mark the dead. It contains a Church of Ireland church and an older cross slab, suggesting layers of belief stacked across centuries. The site remains active, meaning new grief still enters this ancient boundary while the river carries memory outward.
