What is recorded here

Indicated is a broken fairy fort on Ballyvouskill Mountain, its earthen bank cut back by clay trenches and drainage works. What remains is a shallow circular scar on a high shelf, large enough to hold a dozen people or a single desperate thought. The mountain keeps the shape even when human hands keep removing it.

On small shelf of ground, high up on NE-facing slope of Ballyvouskill Mountain. Circular area (24m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.8m) S->NE. Bank contains some large stones; gap (Wth 3.8m) in bank to NNW. Enclosure bounded on SE side by large drain running NE-SW; drain recently deepened during which time bank NE->S levelled. Large trench (Wth c. 6m; D 0.8m) inside bank N->NE dug by landowner for clay. Disused trackway skirts enclosure on W side.
