What is recorded here

In tillage, on a SE-facing slope. A possible moated site (TS063-034002-) and a field system (TS063-034003-) are located c. 20m to E and immediately S and SW respectively. A roughly rectangular area (dims. 36m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (overall Wth c. 4.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H c. 1.65m) to NW and by scarp (Wth 1.25m; H 0.75m) to NE, SE and SE end of SW side and the remains of a fosse (basal Wth 1.4m; overall Wth 3.65m; D 0.45m) on the SW, NW and NE sides. There is a wide gap (Wth 9m) off-centre to NW on the SW side, with other gaps (Wth 5m) off-centre to SE on the NE side and (Wth 3m) off-centre to NE on the SE side. The interior slopes down steadily to SE. An unploughed margin of c. 5-8m surrounds the monument. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
