Enclosure in Ballyryan

On a raised rocky hillock on a W-facing slope with a commanding view to the W over the ocean. A poorly preserved subcircular enclosure (26m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by a heavily overgrown stone wall. On inspection in 1998 it was not possible to measure the height or width of the wall but it appeared to be lowest internally from NE to S. The grass-covered interior of the site slopes to the E and there is a hut site (CL004-092001-) in the NE quadrant. A small mound (diam. 2m; H 0.5m) lies WNW of centre. A large glacial erratic is located at the inner perimeter of the enclosure at W and other glacial erratics are located outside of the perimeter at NNE. Modern stone pens are located against the outer edge of the enclosure at N and NNE. A cashel and Man-made underground passage (CL004-093001- and CL004-093002-) are located c. 98m to the E.
