Ballymaglancy Cave is a 726-metre limestone tunnel near Cong where lesser horseshoe bats still fly through darkness that human hands have not decorated or drained. The Clancy or Glancy family gave the place its name centuries before conservation law arrived to protect the animals hiding there. Water cut the passage, bats map it with sound, and people must keep their distance if the cave is to remain whole.
