O'Kelly placed a small rath on the southern border of Ballyhendricken, yet no enclosure appears on either the 1839 or 1945-6 maps. He may have misread a circular quarry as a ancient boundary, transforming a simple hole into a forgotten home. The true rath has vanished or was never there, leaving only a quarry and a proud claim behind.

According to O'Kelly (1969, 6) in relation to 'Ballyhendrican' townland, 'There is a small rath on the southern border'. There is no enclosure indicated on the 1st (1839) OS 6-inch map or the 1945-6 revision in this townland. It is possible that O'Kelly mistook a small circular quarry on the 1945-6 revision, indicated with hachures facing inward signifying a depression, and located in the W portion of the townland, near the S boundary, as an enclosure.
