Ogham stone in Ballyhank

Discovered in 1846 built into a Man-made underground passage (CO085-06702-) with five other ogham stones (CO085-067003-; CO085-067004-; CO085-067005-; CO085-067007-; CO085-067008-), now in the collection of the National Museum of Ireland (DU018-372----). The inscription is cut on one angle of the stone (1.3m; 0.6m x 0.2m), read by Macalister (1945, 97, no. 100) as AB ULCCAGNI. Macalister (1945, 97, no. 100) thought the prefix AB an abbreviation of Abbot. According to McManus (1991, 61) the AB 'is best ignored.' (Power et al. 1997, no. 7951) This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
