What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyfaris, County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies a low rise in undulating pasture and contains a circular platform measuring 23.5 metres from northeast to southwest. A wide earthen bank encloses the platform, reaches 2.8 metres high at the northeast, and includes stone facing at its top. A shallow trench cuts across the centre on a northwest-southeast axis, possibly marking a cultivation feature rather than a defensive ditch.
Situated on a low rise in undulating pasture. Circular platform (diam. 23.5m NE-SW) enclosed by a wide earthen bank (Wth 5-6.5m; int. H 0.15-0.5m; ext. H 1.7 at SW, 2.8m at NE) with stone facing at top. The bank at N is incorporated into a later field fence. Original entrance may have been at SW. A shallow trench (Wth 1.4m; D 0.2m), flanked by slight banks (Wth 1.4-1.8m; H 0.2m), possibly a cultivation feature, travereses the centre of the interior on a NW-SE axis. Compiled by: Patrick F.
