Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

The fairy fort or ringfort in Ballydasoon is in County Waterford, Ireland. The 1840 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map marked a circular enclosure about 60 metres across. The 1999 inventory recorded a field bank curving northwest to southeast at 53 metres across on a north-facing pasture rise, possibly respecting that enclosure outline.
Marked as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 60m) on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated in pasture on a rise on a N-facing slope. A field bank curving NW-SE (diam. 53m) may respect the outline of an enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 26 July 2010
