Man-made underground passage in Ballyculloo

Ballyculloo in County Galway contains a hidden man-made passage inside a rath, though no surface trace remains for modern eyes to follow. McCaffrey noted the feature in 1952, preserving a ghost of human intention beneath soil that has since swallowed the entrance. The absence of visible marks does not erase the passage; it simply returns the building to darkness, waiting for someone reckless enough to dig or patient enough to listen for hollow echoes under the grass.
