Field system in Ballycorus — Report the wrong picture

Carrickgollogan Mountain still holds a hidden field system on its lower northwest slopes, overlooking the Loughlinstown river valley. Surveyors mapped linear earthworks beside a ringfort in 1843, yet no trace remains visible at ground level today. The land may have swallowed the boundaries, or people may have simply stopped seeing what they had stopped using.

The field system is situated on the lower NW slopes of Carrickgollogan Mountain overlooking Loughlinstown river valley. The 1843 OS 6-inch map shows linear earthworks associated with a ringfort. A sketch plan in the OS Memoranda appears to depict a ringfort with associated field system (O'Flanagan, 1927, 39-40). The site is not visible at ground level.
