Man-made underground passage in Ballyconnell — Report the wrong picture

Closed now and hidden under Ballyconnell soil, the passage once opened west of the univallate rath, a narrow underground room built by human hands rather than dropped from the sky. It may have served as a shelter, a hiding place or a forgotten ritual path, but the entrance has been sealed and no trace remains for curious feet. What is left is a absent shape in the ground, a hole in the story where the chamber should still stand.

According to the landowner a Man-made underground passage system was uncovered several years ago. It lies W of a univallate rath (727). The Man-made underground passages have been closed up and no visible trace survives. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
