Kilballykeefe church gave up some of its stones to build a porch for the Ballycallan chapel, which later became the schoolhouse. That much is recorded. Whether any of those stones still sit inside the wall, hidden under render and time, is no longer certain. The building stands ordinary now, but it began as a transplant, carrying a dead church into a living room.

According to Holahan (1883, 86-7), some of the stones from the church of Kilballykeefe (KK022-015001-) were 'removed to Ballycallan for the purpose of building a porch to the old chapel (the present schoolhouse)'. When visited in 1994 no medieval fabric was visible amongst the external limestone rubble of the schoolhouse which was rendered internally. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 8 July 2020
