What is recorded here

No human has stood inside the finished room, but the post-holes and fine cobbling still mark a chamber built within a Bronze Age enclosure. The bypass took the land before the chamber gave up its full shape, leaving a house half-remembered on the eastern slope. What it held, who lit it or kept it, has gone back into the hill.

On the gentle E-facing slope of a low hill. This is one of two possible structures (see CO044-073005-) that were partially excavated in 2003 in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. The possible structure, which was identified by a series of post-holes and an area of fine cobbling, was discovered within the interior of a Bronze Age enclosure (CO044-073003-). As it lay largely outside the excavated area, it was not possible to determine its full extent or its function.
