Enclosure in Ballybeg Big is a subcircular rath in County Carlow, measuring thirty-two by thirty-six metres. It probably dates to the nineteenth century, yet it may preserve an older circular shape. The land remembers more time than the current boundary admits.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Reported locally as 'rath'. Subcircular, slightly angular area (int. dims. 32m N-S, c. 36m E-W) enclosed by field boundaries. In its present form, probably of nineteenth-century date but may reflect earlier circular enclosure.
