What is recorded here
Muddy feet and broken spears may have marked Ballybarney, Ballymount and the others during a forgotten clash. The long list of farm and townland names suggests a wide local fight rather than a single grand battle. Men from several parishes may have bled on that ground before the story faded from memory.
