What is recorded here

Indicated is a worn oval rath on a Galway hillside, its earth bank stripped and edges blurred by time. It may have housed a family, held a herd, or marked a boundary now forgotten. The shape still resists complete erasure, suggesting that the site mattered enough to be built and changed repeatedly.
On WNW-facing slope of a low hill. Poorly preserved oval rath (E-W 47.6m, N-S 32m) defined along NW by a denuded earthen bank, and elsewhere by a degraded scarp. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
