Indicated is a buried fairy fort at the foot of Sheemore Hill in County Leitrim, where a thirty-foot circular bank still holds its shape beneath field spoil and vegetation. The fort is not grand or sharp, but it is clear enough to imagine: a small defended place, likely human, later dismissed as fairy work because it stopped serving the living. Much of County Leitrim’s old landscape has been reduced to this, a rounded shadow under farmland that remembers being built, used and forgotten.

Situated on an E-facing slope in an undulating landscape at the W foot of Sheemore Hill. This is an overgrown circular area (int. diam. c. 25m) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; H 0.5-1m) (Farrelly 1989, vol. 2, 68), which is largely obscured by field spoil.
