Ghost fort, vanished fort, fairy ring or human made, the ground has forgotten its own shape. What is left is a memory in soil, a shadow in satellite light, a name in a book. Gothere, drop a stone, mark the place. Memory needs a witness.

This site lay at the bottom of a pastoral field and appears on the 1841-42 OS map as a circular enclosure, but on the later edition it is more oval in plan. The fieldbank that lies immediately S is the boundary between Ballingowan and Loughanes. This site has been completely levelled and no surface trace survives.
