Ballingarry’s standing stone still points northeast-southwest across the pasture, overlooking the Morningstar River and the boundary with Killeen. It rises 1.2m, narrow at 0.23m, with loose stones around its base that may be remains of the packing which once held it upright. An Ogham stone lies 370m to the southwest, suggesting this was never an empty field but a place where people marked time, ownership or memory.

Dated to the early medieval period, likely 5th to 7th centuries AD, the stone may have marked a territorial boundary or had ritual significance, possibly linked to nearby Ogham inscriptions. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with ancient druids or as memorials to early Christian settlers.
