What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1904, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of rendered, ruled and lined piers having truncated pyramidal capping supporting wrought iron gates with rendered, ruled and lined outer piers having moss-covered truncated pyramidal capping. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Ballinapark House.
A gateway forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 15602024) with the resulting ensemble not only making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the Ballinapark House estate, but also illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the estate in a later nineteenth century.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
