What is recorded here
Gateway, c.1865, comprising pair of limestone ashlar piers with cut-limestone cornice capping having acorn finials, wrought iron double gates, wrought iron flanking pedestrian gates, limestone ashlar outer piers having cut-limestone cornice capping, acorn finials, and sections of painted rendered flanking walls having wrought iron railings over. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Ballinamona House.
An elegant gateway forming an attractive feature in the street scene. The construction of the piers, and particularly the fine carved detailing to the finials, attests to high quality stone masonry, while the simple wrought iron gates and railings enhance the artistic design quality of the composition.
