Armorial plaque (present location) in Waterford City

This plaque, currently displayed in Waterford's Medieval Museum which is located above a Medieval Undercroft (WA009-005040-), came originally from the Shambles Market in High Street. It displays the arms of the city together with the date 1593. The motto ‘Intacta manet scutii Waterfordiae’ may be translated as ‘The shield of Waterford remains intact’: it was given by King Henry VII after Waterford withstood a siege by Perkin Warbeck in 1495.
