Armorial plaque (present location) in Knocktophermanor

Armorial plaque (present location)

What is recorded here

Knocktophermanor holds one of two Butler plaques rescued from Garrison Castle and set into the north wall of St. David's Graveyard. The shield still carries Ormond, marking a family that once controlled the area before its stones were moved. What is missing is the moment of transfer: whether the plaque was pulled from a demolished hall, hidden during trouble or carried proudly into a new building. In that gap lives the real story, a noble house adapting its symbols as its fortunes changed.
One of two armorial plaques, originally from 'Garrison Castle' (KK031-017002-), inserted in the external face of the north wall of St. David's Graveyard (KK031-017006-) and bearing the shield of the Butler family with the word 'Ormond'.
